Step-by-Step Registration

Download WeChat

Download only from Google Play or Apple App Store. Never use third-party sources — unofficial apps get blocked immediately.

Open WeChat and tap Sign Up. Change language to English using the top-right option if needed.

Enter your name, select your region, enter your real phone number and set a password (8–16 characters with letters and numbers).

Get Verified by a Friend (CRITICAL)

You need a friend with WeChat to scan your QR code or help via WeChat Team contact. This is "Assistant Registration" — it is mandatory. Without this you cannot register.

After your friend verifies you, WeChat sends an SMS to your phone. Enter the code to complete registration.

Verification Requirements for Your Helper

Your helper must meet specific requirements depending on where you are registering from:

  • Helper from outside China: Account must be older than 1 month, not helped others register in the past month
  • Mainland China helper: WeChat Pay enabled, account older than 6 months, not helped others in past month
  • Maximum: One WeChat account can only help verify 3 people per year

Two Verification Methods

Method 1: QR Code Scan

Show your QR code to your helper. They open WeChat → tap + → Scan → scan your QR code. If not nearby, save and send the QR image to them to scan from gallery.

Method 2: Via WeChat Team (Recommended)

Your helper searches "WeChat Team" in WeChat contacts → taps Account at bottom → clicks "Help Friend Register" → enters your phone number → submits. You then send an SMS code to WeChat Official to complete.
